Cannabidiol, or CBD, is derived from agricultural hemp, a member of the cannabis family of plants. Cannabis has several sub-species, including marijuana and hemp. Unlike marijuana, hemp is not psychoactive, containing only trace amounts of THC—the psychoactive chemical that produces the euphoric “high” in the brain. Therefore, hemp and its byproducts—including CBD do not produce the psychoactive high that other forms of cannabis trigger. However, it does contain similar therapeutic properties, shown in studies to support overall health.
Healthy Lotus sources its CBD oil from agricultural hemp grown in Holland, using outdoor and organic growing methods. Our products are derived from the flowers, stalks and leaves of hemp using CO2, an organic process that requires no harsh chemicals. Carbon dioxide is commonly used throughout the food processing industry, especially in processing organic foods, because it is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and removes potential impurities during the extraction process. Each batch is tested by a third party lab and a COA (certificate of analysis) is produced. We ensure that our CBD is not only high-quality, but that it's potency is at or above what the label reads—our quality is in our products, and therefore in the results our customers experience and share with us.

Our CBD oil then goes through the process of formulation, where it is decarboxylated and designated as our green line, or Total Plant Complex, or decarboxylated and filtered, and designated as our gold line—our purest offering of CBD Oil.
Hemp is one of the earliest known domesticated plants, and has been cultivated for more than 12,000 years. The plant is used to make fiber products, such as paper and rope, and has long been a staple of civilization. Hemp is grown commercially in at least 30 countries, including Canada. The CBD oil that comes from hemp is legal in all 50 states and is being used worldwide.
“Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. that contains minimal (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana…”
Our bodies and brains have a natural affinity for CBD. No matter which source CBD originates from, the body’s CBD receptors recognize and process it in the same manner—whether it comes from a plant with a higher THC level or one with virtually no THC, CBD’s therapeutic properties remain the same. CBD receptors, known as the CBD1 receptor and the CBD2 receptor, work on the limbic system, positively supporting a variety of emotional functions, improving anxiety and depression.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon, medical professor and chief medical correspondent for CNN is an outspoken advocate for the legalization of medical CBD oil, saying “…The science is there. This isn’t anecdotal. We have been terribly and systematically misled for nearly 70 years in the United States.” Dr. Gupta, has cited the United States Government’s own patent for CBD oil as a medical application as evidence of its medical benefits.
“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties… this new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following … stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.”
Many adults with chronic pain, seizures, anxiety, depression, and other debilitating issues cannot hold jobs down because their conditions interfere with their ability to work. While marijuana may reduce such symptoms in these people, it causes the euphoric “high” and will test positive on drug screens. CBD oil, in many cases, is the only viable alternative for those who need or want to work but otherwise would not be able to.
